Actually not my everyday handwriting, but the kind I use when I make my to-do lists. But it wouldn’t look right with a simple font with the same letters repeating all the time, and that’s why I added 12 different hastily written versions of each letter. Designed by David Kerkhoff, Starboard is a brush display and grunge font family. This typeface has two styles and was published by Hanoded . Starboard The term starboard derives from the Old English steorbord, meaning the side on which the ship is steered. Before the steering wheel, boats were steered by an oar at the stern of the ship. Since most sailors were right handed, this is where you would find your steering oar! Starboard is a rough, handmade, brushy kinda font. It was, of course, made with my favourite cheap brush and Chinese ink - resulting in a slightly eroded looking font. The original provided almost all of the key character shapes, with the others being designed to keep the unique hand painted feel intact. Most of the letters have alternate versions provided. This font works equally well at wider letterspacing settings. Roadkill Alternates provides curved versions of the 2 and the S, a G with higher crossbar, and less worn versions of several other characters. Lighter and more heavily inked versions were used for the three variants. Using Opentype character-substitution technology, Salvation rotates through three versions of each letter to create a naturally uneven printed effect. Unlike hot metal type, the potatoes were cut the right way around. This produced reversed prints, which were then flipped back in Photoshop.
